Join the Suicide Prevention Youth Advisory Group
31 Mar 26
Our Suicide Prevention Youth Advisory Group (YAG), which is supported by Children in Scotland and the University of Edinburgh, is currently inviting new members to join this important national project.
If you're passionate about improving mental health support for young people in Scotland and want to use your experiences to create real change, this is a great opportunity to make sure young people's views are heard.
What is the Youth Advisory Group?
Launched in 2022 as part of Scotland’s National Suicide Prevention Strategy, the Youth Advisory Group brings together young people aged 16-24 to ensure their voices are heard by decision-makers and to help shape government policy on suicide prevention.
This group is made up of young people with lived experience - whether that’s dealing with suicidal thoughts, mental health challenges, or bereavement by suicide. By sharing insights and ideas, members play a direct role in influencing how support services are designed and delivered across Scotland.
Being part of the YAG is a unique opportunity to:
Make a difference - contribute to national policy and help improve support for young people
Have your voice heard - ensure decision-makers understand real experiences
Connect with others - meet like minded young people in a safe, supportive space
Build confidence and skills - share ideas, speak at events, and shape discussions
Members meet around once a month, both online and in person, and help decide the topics that matter most to them.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are aged 16-24 and have lived experience of:
Suicidal thoughts or attempts
Mental health challenges
Bereavement by suicide
