Specific services
RSABI provides support to people involved in the Scottish agricultural industry, including farmers, crofters and farm workers, and their dependents.
Our support is available to those currently involved in agriculture, and those previously involved in the industry.
We can help with a wide variety of issues and help people going through difficult times including those affected by illness, accident, bereavement and relationship breakdown. We support people who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or struggling with their mental wellbeing.
We have a small team of staff based across the country, all of whom are mental health first aid trained. If you recognise someone’s voice and you’d prefer to speak to someone else, please just let the helpline operator know and they can arrange that. All calls are confidential.
Outwith office hours our helpline is operated by Connect Assist – and you will receive the same professional, friendly support.
Our Freephone Helpline is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year and the number won’t show up on phone bills. For those who would prefer not to talk on the phone initially they can also use our confidential webchat service.
Worrying about a loved one can take its toll on you too. If you’re involved in the agricultural industry, we can support you too. This could be through confidential chats on the website, calling our Helpline or having a regular call with one of our friendly team.
RSABI can provide financial support to help with the cost of counselling sessions. We can usually fund up to 10-12 sessions with a qualified counsellor. We know that many challenges are unique to agriculture so that’s why we have partnered with counsellors that understand the sector.
In order to qualify for further support with counselling beyond the initial 10-12 sessions, a short application form needs to be completed and a case officer will guide you through this process.
You could also request access to our Thrive app. Thrive offers a range of supportive content, including resources on mindfulness, relaxation techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). For those who need further support, in-app therapy is available with qualified in-house therapists available between 8am and 8pm to chat confidentially about any worries or stressors.
If you work for an organisation and would like more information on how to refer someone to RSABI please call 0808 1234 555 or email rsabi@rsabi.org.uk.
