Is it time to put You First?

In partnership with Public Health Scotland, we have published a new four-part podcast series.

It's aimed at those across our Scottish workforce who are working on sensitive and emotive topics and issues and with potentially upsetting data and information.

Presented by counsellor and former journalist Janet Watson, each episode covers a different theme around workplace wellbeing.

We've also published a guide to support the podcast series.

Introducing the four episodes

We've published the full series wherever you get your podcasts. Here's what to expect.

Episode 01

The impact of emotionally demanding work

In our first episode, we're talking about why it’s important that we pay attention to our wellbeing and the potential consequences if we don’t.

Host Janet is joined by Andy Hardie, Clinical Director at Lifelink and Susie Heywood, Suicide Prevention Implementation Lead with Public Health Scotland.

Episode 02

Managing stress and maintaining wellbeing at work

In this episode we're exploring self-care and speaking about what we can do as individuals to minimise the impact of our work.

We look at some useful tools and hear brilliant suggestions from Dr Rebecca Williams, a stress management consultant and former GP.

Episode 03

The important role of line managers and organisations

In this episode, we look at the steps that line managers and organisational leaders should be taking to support staff wellbeing.

Janet is joined by Satinder Panesar, a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, trainer and coach, and Rebecca Williams returns to join the conversation.

Episode 04

When a job is more than just a job

We think about what it’s like when our job feels like more than just a job, and how our own experiences can mean we need to pay extra attention to our wellbeing.

Jenny Smith, Suicide Prevention Lead with Public Health Scotland and Danielle Rowley, Head of Policy and Communications at Samaritans Scotland join us.
