A week to celebrate the power of peer support

We are proud to be working alongside the Scottish Recovery Network for a week‑long spotlight on peer support, as part of the Creating Hope with Peer Support programme.

This initiative emphasises the power of shared lived‑experience and community connection in suicide prevention.

Today (Tuesday 11 November) we're launching a film that brings to life the value of peer support for those affected by suicide.

Throughout the week we’ll feature short films from community‑based peer support organisations, The Hive, LATNEM and Men United.

Here's what you need to know about each organisation:

  • The Hive is a Community Hub based in Kirkcaldy. They provide a safe, inclusive space, drop‑in accessibility, and peer connection. The Hive represents a strong example of how peer support can be embedded in a community hub

  • LATNEM (Let’s All Talk North East Mums) provide safe, free peer support groups (face‑to‑face and online) for mothers and birthing people who are experiencing mental ill health

  • Men United offer weekly peer support groups for men, a mentoring and befriending service, motivational workshops and speaking events

Each play a vital role in their community, offering safe, compassionate spaces where people connect, share, and find hope together.

The Creating Hope with Peer Support pathway recognises how peer support can help to reduce isolation, build early connections and ensure the right support at the right time for people, their families and anyone affected by suicide.
