Enabling Conversations toolkit launch at V&A Dundee
22 Aug 25
Over the last few months, we've been engaged in a unique partnership with V&A Dundee and young people to develop a new toolkit.
The resource is a guide for young people who may be having suicidal thoughts. It encourages them to think about how to share their feelings with a 'safe person' (who does not have to be a parent).
There will also be a supporting resource for any adult that is asked by a young person to be their safe person to help them have safe conversations.
This toolkit has been developed as we have heard from young people that a parent or a peer is often the first person they approach when they want to speak about their mental health and suicide.
For young people, this can be daunting.
And for parents there is a great fear around getting this wrong.
To launch the new Enabling Conversations toolkit, a launch will take place at V&A Dundee on Saturday 13 September.
At the event we will introduce the toolkit, sharing how it can be used and how it was co-designed and developed, as well as exploring how it can be used in practice.
Throughout the day we will have a marketplace of stalls from services that support families and or children and young people’s mental health.
There will be a practical studio where attendees can explore the resource at their own pace and provide feedback.
This event is for people working with children, young people and families, as well as parents and youth groups.
Spaces are limited, and are available to book now.
Digital versions of the toolkit will be launched here on SuicidePrevention.scot from 15 September.
