New United to Prevent Suicide opportunities launched
11 Jul 25
The team at United to Prevent Suicide has launched new opportunities to get involved in the Scotland's social movement to prevent suicide.
A new national event called Big Meet Up will take place next year, and a first local group is to be established in Dundee.
It comes after a report was published following a detailed engagement exercise with movement members.
Over one hundred people took part, sharing ideas about their motivations, expectations, and ideas for United to Prevent Suicide.
You can download the full report here.
In the year ahead, United to Prevent Suicide will be focusing on the things members said mattered most to them by:
Holding a national event
Building local groups and interest groups to help you get involved in activity more relevant to you
Developing a training programme so that you can build your skills and knowledge
Join the Big Meet Up steering group
One of the things that came out of our conversations last summer is that our members want more opportunities to come together at events and meet people who are passionate about preventing suicide in Scotland.
Lots of people also said how good it would be for United to Prevent Suicide to have more structure and clarity about our mission and activities.
That’s why we’re working toward the Big Meet Up in early 2026 where we’ll discuss the things the matter most to members.
To do that, the team are looking for members of the social movement to help develop the event.

Local groups - starting with Dundee
We're about to start building local groups where our members can meet other people in their communities who want to take action to prevent suicide.
To kick-off we're starting with Dundee, so if you live locally and would like to get involved you can also email Maddy - click here.
